TV Blocker

Actually an Infra Red remote control signal blocker / disruptor

I have included this even though I have only once got it to work. A prototype worked really well on two out of three remote controls for up to 15 feet but a full class project didn't work beyond about 2 feet away.

I believe the main problem is the frequency of the Infra Red diodes. I have tried both common IR frequencies (880nm and 930nm I believe) and still got very variable results. I found this circuit off the internet and have tried a few variations with no success. It may be the choice of Transistor.

If you can tell me how to proof this project, I will be very grateful!

The IR LED fits on the right hand edge, bent over to face right
The yellow LED here can be any visible LED and is to show the circuit is working
The preset potentiometer on the top edge is a standard three leg type buit it doesn't show too well in this pciture
The battery joins on the top left
The switch is a miniature keyboard switch
This fits into a small handheld case such as the ones from Rapid Electronics.
