Print a piece of text from a word processor.
Pupils have to cut out all the often repeated words like 'and', then stick them in groups of ten onto graph paper.
At end of detention, search the word processed text and it will count the number fo times each word appears, and you can keep them in longer for every word missed

From a single piece of A4 paper, pupils have to tear the shapes of 10 animals
3 Sided Silliness
Give pupils a piece of A4 paper, scissors
and some sellotape. They have to cut 50 perfect identical triangles out of the paper, number them and stick them in a line onto the sellotape. then you can hang it up as a warning to others
Holdit High
With one piece of paper and no glue or other sticky bitsm, make a base which will hold a pencil case 10cm off the desk for 10 seconds. (Make a box with origami or fold into corrugations and stand on edge or fold paper lengthways and then into a triangle, doubling over edges
Fiddly Fonts
On a computer, Produce a sheet which has the words "I am sorry i did not do what I should have done - signed A.pupil", with Every letter a different size ands font. Print out.
Extra Evil Version - Make the sentance longer
Soft Self-Portrait
Give pupil a piece of plasticne or clay and a mirror, they have to make a self porrtrait within the time set.
Extra Evil Version:- Photograph the finished result or display it so others can see it and try and guess who it is...
Riotous Rainbow
Colour in a piec of graph paper with 4 coloured pencils so that no two colours are next to each other.
Extra Evil Version- Give them 3 pencils, it can't be done!!
