These resources have been developed with Westglade Junior School, Nottingham. Outside school, anyone designing using Cams and followers would normally buy in the items. As schools spend a lot of time developing the mechanism, less time can be spent on what you do with the mechanism. To overcome this, An A4 corrugated cardboard sheet was developed which pressed out to make a set of components for building various cam mechanisms, then cut using a laser cutter by Top Valley School in Nottingham as part of their Engineering Specialism work. The A4 sheet contains all parts for a single Cam mechanism and three cams. A fourth cam cannot fit on the sheet and is cut separately in batches. The mechanism can be combined so up to 4 cams will turn on the same shaft, giving a variety of different movements at once. The actual 2D design CAD file is HERE The following photographs show some of the parts and outcomes. Powerpoint Presentation about CAMS. Most of this was made by collating pages and information already on the Internet. The details of where, are included in the presentation. |
